egl knitting
This is a compilation of knitting patterns that suit EGL styles. I noticed there was a lack of resources for specifically knitting patterns in lolita fashion (there are a few for crochet like this tumblr page). A lot of these would work great as-is but some just need a little bit of lace trim or cutesy buttons and ribbons to fit.
When looking for loliable knits (specifically tops), I look mainly for silhouettes and general design elements that can be embellished. Generally you'll want a higher neckline. Peter pan collars are a staple, but square necklines and high necks work too. You're usually going for a fitted or babydoll silhouette, cropped length (to accomodate high waists in dresses and skirts), and some kind of sleeve detailing, and either a puff or bell sleeve shape. Some of these are fairly easy to incorporate into an existing pattern (for instance it's easy to add a puff sleeve by just doing extra increases on the sleeve and then decreasing), but I've tried to avoid including any patterns that would need structural changes. I recommend looking at existing brand pieces in the style you like for ideas on how to add embellishments, but keep in mind that some types of embellishments may need special consideration to avoid
I may expand this list later to include general craft ideas, especially those that can be done by hand.
Headgear
RhiRhiKnits' Swan Bonnet - I think this would be perfect especially in lavender, sax, or pink! Similarly, this is a plain bonnet: Elli Bonnet that would be great with some picot lace edging or beading. Here's another pattern with a bit more detailing but it's for knitting machine
December Bow - This or any number of free bow patterns on ravelry would be great beginner projects and could work as a brooch, hair clip, headband, on a hair tie, or bag charm.
Elevated cat or devil hat - The little ears remind me a bit of a batwing headdress and could be really cute with a casual coord!
Cute hat with rabbits - The rabbit motif is so cute and would be very loliable for casual coords in pastel colors.
Shoujo Beret - classic beret with a big bow on the back
Nana Beret - a chunky knitted beret with a brim inspired by Nana Osaki! This is from the same user as above - she designs kawaii-inspired patterns including lots of cute berets so definitely check out her user page.
Tops
Strawberry cake sweater - This sweater pattern is soooo cute. This would be perfect layered over a blouse with a skirt or jsk, or you could steek the front and knit on a button band to convert it to a cardigan. It would also be fairly simple to adapt the sleeves to be a cuter puffy or bell sleeve shape.
Little Bow Aran Cardigan - This sweater pattern is soooo cute. This would be perfect layered over a blouse with a skirt or jsk, or you could steek the front and knit on a button band to convert it to a cardigan. It would also be fairly simple to adapt the sleeves to be a cuter puffy or bell sleeve shape.
Beary Cute sweater - similar to above, the bow motif would be so cute with a blouse!
Maud Blouse - elegant lacy top that would be so pretty with a skirt or JSK.
The Diana Sweater - Edwardian inspired sweater with a gorgeous ruffled collar
Be Mine Blouse - a turtleneck with lots of delicate girly details! would be great for classic lolita under a JSK. It's also in fingering weight yarn so not too warm.
Adelaide Robinson Blouse - 1930s inspired blouse with puff sleeves and cable details. The crop length with ruffle hem would be perfect with a skirt or JSK
Cardi-Ruche Round Neck Raglan Cardigan - Cardigan with lots of ruffles perfect for lolita
Wioletta Cardigan - The scallop buttonband is soooo precious! I also love the tiny flower cable details
Amelka Cardigan - The puff sleeves and tie front are very cute! The crop rounded hem works well with lolita silhouettes
Scarves, capes, and shawls
Victorian style ruffled cape - the buttons and collar make this super elegant! There's actually a gothic lolita coord with this piece in the projects section which is awesome.
Bliss Bloss Shawl - cute floral colorwork shawl, could keep as-is or add a lace trim.
Bat cape - Perfect for winter gothic coords~ I love the subtle lacy details
Arien of Dorthonion Capelet - An elegant cabled capelet with lots of cute details.
Lace and pearls capelet - Delicate looking sparkly lace capelet. Kind of reminds me of cult party kei.
Woodland capelet - simple capelet with a cute scallop finish
Bunny scarf - this bunny scarf is soooo cute!! It reminds me of a pattern in GLB but more beginner friendly and has a video tutorial! Definitely want to make this.
Socks
These sock patterns are all really cute, adding a picot edging like this or a ruffle like in this pattern can help make them a bit more elegant and lolita-ish :)
Groove is in the Heart - this user has tons of cute sock patterns
January Socks - this pattern includes a lacy foldover that would look perfect with mary janes or lolita heels
Other
Four 1892 Victorian Laces, No. 62 Lace Edging - Antique patterns converted to modern terminology, would be great for adding to knitted garments since they have stretch.
Childhood friend handwarmers - Sanrio inspired handwarmer patterns
Lacy Victorian gloves - these are a bit elevated from a typical handwarmer/fingerless glove with the layered effect and buttons
Bunny from the farm - incredibly precious knitted bunny toy that would be a perfect bag charm or just cute companion! Depending on the construction you could potentially also convert this into a plushie bag.
Henry's bunny - tiny bunny plush. Could make a cute brooch or charm, super easy to make~!
Fraisier cup cake pouch - the strawberry pattern is super cute! Would also make a cute bagcharm or useless mini bag.
This thread has scans of English GLB vol 4, which has knitting and crochet patterns released by brands! The scans are a bit disjointed so you have to make some logical leaps (also I think the yarns are Japanese brands) but it's great for inspo.
Disclaimer: None of these are my personal patterns and I haven't made any of these (except for Henry's bunny), this list is mainly for inspiration and ideas! In future, when I make some of these, I will link them on my craft page. I do not stand to financially benefit from any of these links. However it'd be super cool if anyone made and coorded anything from this list, please let me know if so~
I will continue to update this list if I find more loliable patterns in the wild!
